ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Centrifugal governor

A centrifugal governor is like a special arm that helps to control the speed of machines, like engines. The arm is attached to a wheel or a shaft that spins around really fast, like a merry-go-round. The arm has weights attached to it that swing outwards as the wheel goes faster.

When the wheel spins too fast, the weights swing out farther and push on a lever, which helps to slow things down. When the wheel slows down, the weights swing back in, and everything goes back to the way it was before.

Think of it like a game where you spin a top, and the top starts to wobble. If it wobbles too much, it falls over, and you have to start all over again. The centrifugal governor is like a helper that makes sure your top doesn't wobble too much and stays spinning smoothly.
