ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Centrifuge

Okay kiddo, imagine you are playing with some toys in the bathtub and you have a cup full of water. When you spin the cup around really fast, the water inside moves with the cup and goes to the bottom, right?

A centrifuge is like a big toy cup, but instead of spinning it with your hand, it's connected to a machine that spins it super fast. When you put a liquid or substance in the cup and turn on the machine, the liquid or substance moves to the bottom of the cup, just like the water did in your toy cup.

Scientists and doctors use centrifuges to separate different parts of blood or other liquids, because they have different weights and the centrifuge can separate them by spinning them at different speeds. It's like magic, because it helps them study and treat a lot of different things in our bodies.
