Charcoal

Charcoal is a black, rock-like material made from burning wood. When wood is burned in a special way, it removes most of the water and other things that are in wood, but leaves behind a black, ash-like material called charcoal. You can cook over charcoal, but it also has many other uses. It can be used to purify water and keep it free from bacteria and other bad things. It can also help filter air and helps reduce bad odors.
