Have you ever heard someone tell you something that sounded too good to be true? They might have been a charlatan.
A charlatan is a person who tells lies to trick people into giving them money or believing in something that isn't real. It's like when you play pretend and say you're a superhero or a princess, but the charlatan is doing it to get something from other people.
For example, imagine someone said they had special medicine that could cure any sickness, but it actually was just water. They might charge people lots of money for this "medicine" and get rich by tricking people into buying it.
It's not nice to lie or trick people, and that's why we shouldn't be charlatans!
