Chevron (insignia)

A chevron is like a little arrow-shaped symbol that can be found on military and police uniforms, as well as in logos and designs. It looks like an upside-down V, with one point at the bottom and two lines that slant up and out to the sides.

It's usually a sign of rank or achievement, kind of like a badge or medal. If someone has one chevron on their uniform, it might mean they're a private in the army, but if they have two chevrons, they might be a sergeant. It's a way to show who has more experience or higher status.

The origins of the chevron go way, way back to medieval times, when knights would wear them on their armor to show which lord they served. Over time, the symbol has evolved and been used in different ways, but it's still a recognizable and important symbol today.
