Chinese pickles

Okay kiddo, you know how we sometimes eat pickles as a snack? Well, people in China do too! But they make pickles a little bit differently there.

First, they take vegetables like cucumbers, radishes, or carrots and chop them up into small pieces. Then they mix them with salt and other spices like garlic, ginger, or chili peppers.

Next, they put them in a jar or container and let them sit for a while. This is called "fermenting," which is kind of like when you let fruit sit out and it gets all mushy. But with pickles, the salt and spices help create a tasty, tangy flavor instead of making them mushy like fruit.

After a few days or weeks, the pickles are ready to eat! They can be served as a side dish or even used in cooking to add flavor to other foods. Plus, they're a healthy snack because they have a lot of vitamins and probiotics that are good for our bodies.

So there you have it, little one. Chinese pickles are tasty, tangy vegetables that have been fermented with spices and salt to make them even more delicious and healthy to eat!
