ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chiton (costume)

A chiton is like a big blanket that ancient Greeks wore as a dress. It's made out of a big piece of fabric that's folded and pinned together, and it goes all the way down to your feet like a long gown. It doesn't have any sleeves and is held up by straps that go over your shoulders. People used to wear these a long time ago because they didn't have as many clothes as we do now, but they still wanted to look nice and keep themselves covered. It's kind of like wearing a big comfy nightgown that you don't want to take off!
