ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Choral Public Domain Library

Okay, so have you ever been singing a song with a group of people? Maybe in your school choir or at church? Well, imagine if you had a bunch of songs that you could sing with your friends, but everyone already knew the words and the music. That's what the Choral Public Domain Library (CPDL) is for!

The CPDL is a website where people can find sheet music for all kinds of songs that are not protected by copyright anymore. That means that anybody can use them for free anytime they want! You can find songs from lots of different countries and time periods - everything from old hymns to modern pop songs.

But here's the really cool part: since the music is public domain, people can also make arrangements of the songs that are perfect for choirs to sing! That means that instead of just singing the songs the way they were written a long time ago, choirs can put their own spin on them and make them sound really special.

So if you're in a choir and you're looking for some new songs to sing, or if you just love to sing with your friends, the Choral Public Domain Library is a great place to find some really amazing music that you can sing without having to worry about any copyright stuff. Isn't that awesome?
