Church Committee

The Church Committee was a group of United States senators and representatives who wanted to make sure that the government was not overstepping its power. In 1975, they looked into how the government was using its powers to spy on people. They made sure that the government was only trying to keep people safe, and not take away people's right to privacy. They did this by looking into things like FBI activities, the CIA, and other government agencies to make sure they weren't crossing the line.
