Operation Gladio was a secret plan created by the US and other governments in Europe after World War II. The goal of the plan was to prepare for the possibility of a Soviet invasion of western Europe. As part of the plan, teams of soldiers were set up in secret in different countries. They were given special weapons and instructions to carry out "secret wars" if the Soviet Union ever invaded. They were also told to do other secret things, like carrying out sabotage and terrorist attacks. The goal was to weaken the Soviet Union and make it less likely to invade western Europe.
