Church Slavonic is an old form of the Slavic languages, which is the language of some Eastern European countries, like Russia and Bulgaria. Church Slavonic was used in the Orthodox Church from its earliest days, so it was mostly used in churches and for religious texts. Over time, it changed into different dialects and is still used in Orthodox churches today for some of their religious services. It's very different than the modern Russian and Bulgarian languages, but some words and phrases are the same.
