ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

CinemaScore

Cinemascore is like a grading system for movies, kind of like the grades you get on your report card at school. After people watch a new movie on its opening night, a company called Cinemascore asks them to rate the movie from A+ to F, just like in school.

But instead of grading how well you did on a math test, cinemascore is grading how much people liked the movie they just watched. If a lot of people give a movie an A+ or an A, it means they really enjoyed it and thought it was great. If a lot of people give a movie a lower grade like a C or a D, it means they didn't like it very much and might tell their friends not to go see it.

These grades can help movie studios understand if people are loving their movies or not. So, if a movie gets a lot of A+ grades, it might encourage more people to go see it because they know other people really enjoyed it. On the other hand, if a movie gets a low grade, the studios might look at what went wrong and try to make better movies in the future.
