ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cladophora

Cladophora is a type of green algae that looks like a fuzzy green plant. It grows in water, like a pond or a river or a lake. Cladophora is made up of lots of tiny cells that work together to create one big plant.

Cladophora needs sunlight to grow, just like a real plant. This is because sunlight helps the plant make food through a process called photosynthesis.

When the temperature is just right, and there are lots of nutrients in the water, Cladophora can grow really quickly. Sometimes it can grow too much and create too much algae in the water. This can be bad for other plants and animals that live in the water, as they can't breathe or get enough sunlight like Cladophora does. This is called an "algal bloom" and it can be dangerous.

Overall, Cladophora is an interesting and important part of the underwater ecosystem, but it's important to keep its growth under control so that other plants and animals can survive too!
