Clearwater Lakes

Imagine a big bowl of water with nothing else in it, not even sand or rocks or fish or plants. When you look down into the water, it is so clear that you can see all the way to the bottom of the bowl. Now imagine that instead of a bowl, this is a really, really big lake that people can swim in. And instead of someone pouring water into the lake, the water in the lake comes from underground springs. Because there is nothing else in the water and because the water comes from springs, the lake stays very, very clear. We call this type of lake a clearwater lake because the water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom of the lake. People like to swim in clearwater lakes because they are beautiful and clean.
