Coade stone

Coade Stone is a kind of stone that was made a long time ago in England. It was named after a woman named Eleanor Coade who figured out how to make it. Coade Stone is not like regular stone that comes from the ground, it is made by people mixing different things together.

To make Coade Stone, they mix together special clay, sand, and some other things that make it hard and strong. Then they heat it up in a really hot oven called a kiln. When it cools down, it becomes a special kind of stone that is very strong and can last a long time without getting damaged.

Coade Stone was used a lot back then to make things like fancy statues, ornaments, and other decorations for buildings. It was really popular because it was very durable and could be made into lots of different shapes and designs.

Even though people don't use Coade Stone as much nowadays, it is still really cool to learn about and see. So if you ever see a really old building with some fancy decorations on it, maybe it's made out of Coade Stone!
