Cocadas

Hey kiddo! So, have you ever heard of a sweet treat called "cocadas"? They're these amazing little snacks that come from Latin America. Let me tell you all about them!

Cocadas are a type of candy that are made from just a few simple ingredients: shredded coconut, sugar, and sometimes egg whites. First, a person takes the shredded coconut and mixes it up with the sugar in a big bowl. Then, they add in the egg whites (if they're using them), which helps everything stick together better.

Once everything is mixed up, the candy maker scoops out little balls of the mixture. Sometimes they'll press it into little cups made out of paper or other material to give them a fun and festive shape. Then, they bake the cocadas in the oven until they're nice and golden brown on the outside.

The result is a sweet, chewy candy that's completely full of coconut flavor. Cocadas come in all sorts of different flavors too - some candy makers will add in things like nuts, vanilla, or even fruit to change things up.

People all over Latin America love to snack on cocadas, especially around the holidays. They're often found at street fairs and outdoor markets, but you can also make them at home with just a few simple ingredients. So next time you're looking for something sweet to munch on, why not give cocadas a try? They're delicious!
