Coccygectomy

Hi kiddo, have you ever heard of your tailbone? It's the small bone at the end of your spine that helps you sit down and balance when you stand.

Well, sometimes people can hurt their tailbone really badly and it can cause them a lot of pain. When that happens and nothing else helps to make it feel better, some doctors might decide to do something called a coccygectomy.

A coccygectomy is a big word that means they will take out the tailbone that's causing the pain. Don't worry though, you won't feel a thing because the doctor will give you something to make you sleep while they do the surgery.

After the surgery, your tailbone will be gone but you'll be able to sit and stand without feeling the pain you had before. It might take some time for you to feel completely better, but with some rest and care, you'll be back to playing and running around in no time!
