ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Code (cryptography)

Cryptography is like a secret code that is used to keep messages, websites and other things safe and private. It uses special codes that make it hard for anyone to read the message, website, etc. Unless you have the special code to unlock the message, no one will be able to read it. It's like a safe that you have to have the combination to open- if you don't have the combination, you can't open the safe. It works similarly with the special code that is used with cryptography.
