Coefficient of relationship

Coefficient of relationship is a way to measure how closely two things are related to each other. For example, let's say you wanted to measure how closely plants and animals are related. You can look at how much plants and animals have in common, such as the amount of DNA, how many similar organs or body parts they have, how closely their behaviors and habits match, how often they interact with each other and so on. The more similar these things are, the higher the coefficient of relationship between plants and animals is.
