Collar (clothing)

A collar is a part of some shirts, dresses, and jackets that goes around your neck. It's sort of like a built-in necklace! Collars can be all different shapes and sizes, but they usually have a band that goes around your neck, and then some material that sticks up and frames your face. Sometimes the collar buttons up, and sometimes it just sits there, all fancy and decorative. People wear collars because they can make a plain shirt look more interesting, and they can also help keep your neck warm if it's chilly outside.
