Colloquialism is a word or phrase that is usually used in informal conversations and writing. It is the way people talk in everyday, casual situations. For example, if your mom were to say to you, "You look really fly in that outfit!", then she is using a colloquialism - "fly" is a type of colloquialism which means looking good.
