Colombian Canadians

Okay, so you know how there are different countries in the world with different languages, foods, and customs? Well, Canada is one country and Colombia is another country.

People who come from Colombia and now live in Canada are called Colombian Canadians. They are like your friend who moved from a different school. They bring their culture – the things they do and like – to Canada.

Colombian Canadians might love Colombian food like empanadas, which are like little pockets full of yummy meat and vegetables. They might listen to music from Colombia that you've never heard before. And they might have traditions like celebrating Colombian Independence Day on July 20th, which is different than the holidays you celebrate in Canada.

Colombian Canadians are part Canadian – they live here and enjoy Canadian things – but also part Colombian because they keep their culture alive. It's like blending two different colours together to make a new one!
