The Columbian Exchange was a time in history when different groups of people who lived in different places started to trade with one another. This is called an exchange because people were exchanging different things they had, like food and animals. For example, people from Europe brought horses to the Americas, and people from the Americas gave Europeans things like turkeys, tomatoes, and potatoes. This exchange of goods changed and improved the lives of people all around the world because it introduced them to new things they had never seen before.
