ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Transformation of culture

Okay kiddo, let me explain what transformation of culture means.

Culture means the things that people do and the way they do it when they come together as a group. For example, the language they speak, the clothes they wear, the food they eat, the music they listen to and the way they celebrate different occasions.

Transformation means a change or a shift from what things were like before to what they are like now. So, when we talk about transformation of culture, it means that the way people act and behave when they come together is changing.

Let's take an example of how culture can transform. Imagine that in a city, people used to speak a language that was different from the language spoken in other cities. But now, people from those other cities have started to move in, so the language used in that city is changing, and people are beginning to speak a new language. This change in language is an example of the transformation of culture.

In other words, when different groups come together, they bring their own culture with them. Over time, these cultures mix and change, creating something new – this is what we mean by transformation of culture. It is like changing the ingredients that you mix together while making a recipe – the end result changes, and in this case, we're talking about people's behavior, beliefs and practices.

I hope that helps, kiddo!
