ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Communalism before 1800

Communalism before 1800 means that people belonged to a group or community, like a tribe or village, and all the members were expected to take care of each other. This means that people shared things like food, water, and shelter with each other, and worked together to make sure everyone had enough. Sometimes they also had special events, like festivals or ceremonies, where everyone in the community joined together. People had respect for each other, and showed kindness and hospitality even to strangers.
