Let me tell you a story, kiddo.
Sometimes bad things can happen like earthquakes, floods, fires, or other types of emergencies. When these things happen, many times the police, firefighters, and ambulances need help from ordinary people like you and me. This is where the Community Emergency Response Team or CERT comes in.
CERT is a group of volunteers who are trained to help in case of emergencies. They learn important skills like how to put out a fire, how to perform first aid, and how to safely search for people who might be trapped.
These skills are important because when a disaster strikes, the emergency responders may not be able to get to everyone who needs help right away. So, the CERT team steps up to help their neighbors and take care of their community until help arrives.
The best part is that you can become a member of the CERT team too! It's a great way to help your community and learn new skills that can help you in your everyday life. But remember, always listen to your parents/guardians and community leaders during emergencies and never put yourself in danger.
