Compartmentalization (fire protection)

Compartmentalization is like having different rooms in your house, where each room is separated from the other rooms so that if something bad happens in one room, it doesn't also happen in the other rooms.

Now, for fire protection, buildings are divided into different compartments, which are basically areas that are separated from each other by walls, floors, and doors. These compartments are designed to prevent fires from spreading quickly and to limit the damage caused by the fire.

So, if there is a fire in one compartment, the walls, floors, and doors should be able to prevent the fire from spreading to other compartments. This gives people in other compartments more time to evacuate safely, and it also helps firefighters to control the fire and prevent it from becoming more dangerous.

In simple words, compartmentalization helps buildings to be safer and protect people and property from fires. It's like having walls and doors in between different parts of the house, but on a bigger scale to protect bigger buildings.
