ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Computer aided assessment

Ok kiddo, so you know how sometimes you have to take a test or quiz in school, right? Well, sometimes teachers use computers to help them grade those tests! That's called computer aided assessment.

Now, let me explain how it works. First, the teacher creates the test on the computer using special software. This software lets them choose the questions they want to ask and set up the answers they're looking for. Then, when you take the test, you answer the questions on the computer too.

After that, the teacher doesn't have to grade the test by hand like in the olden days! The computer takes your answers and compares them to the answers the teacher set up beforehand. If your answer matches the right answer, you get a point! If not, you might not get a point or you might lose a point.

At the end of the test, the computer adds up all of the points you got and gives you a grade! This helps the teacher see how well you did and also saves them a lot of time grading by hand.

So that's what computer aided assessment is all about: using computers to help grade tests! It makes it easier for the teacher and can even help give you more detailed feedback on how you did. Pretty cool, huh?
