ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Computer security incident management

Okay, so imagine you have a really cool toy that you love to play with, but sometimes other kids want to play with it too. You want to make sure your toy stays safe and doesn't get broken or taken away from you, right?

In the same way, companies and organizations have computers and information that they want to keep safe from bad guys who might try to break into their systems or steal their information.

Computer security incident management means having a plan in place for when something bad happens - like if someone tries to hack into their computers or steal important information.

Just like when you have a plan for when someone tries to snatch your toy away, companies have a plan for when someone tries to steal their information. This plan involves different steps, like identifying the problem and figuring out what was taken or damaged, stopping the bad guy from doing more damage, fixing any issues, and making sure it doesn't happen again in the future.

So just like you want to make sure your toy stays safe, companies want to make sure their information stays safe too. And by having a plan in place for when something bad happens, they can be prepared and protect their information as much as possible.
