ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Conformal map

Okay, kiddo, imagine you have a big piece of paper and you draw a map on it. Now, imagine that this map is a little bit wonky and things don't look exactly the same as they do in real life. That's where a conformal map comes in!

A conformal map is like a magic tool that helps make sure the shapes on the map look the same as the real shapes around you. So, if you want to see a map of a city or town or even a country, you can use a conformal map to make sure the roads and buildings and landmarks look the way they actually look in real life. This is really helpful because it helps you navigate and find your way around much better.

The cool thing about a conformal map is that it takes into account things like angles and shapes and distances, and helps make sure they all look right on the map. It's kind of like having a camera that takes a really accurate picture of what's in front of you.

So, if you ever need to figure out where you are, or how to get somewhere, or just want to see a cool map of the world, remember that a conformal map is your friend!
