ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Connected relation

Have you ever played with Lego blocks? When you connect two Lego blocks, they become a connected unit just like building blocks. Just like Legos, in math, we have things called sets, which are a bunch of things grouped together.

Now, assume you have two sets, let's call them Set A and Set B. If there is a way to make a connection or relationship between any element in Set A and an element in Set B, then we say that there is a connected relation between Set A and Set B. It’s like building a bridge between two groups of Lego blocks.

For example, let's say that Set A contains the numbers 1, 2, and 3, and Set B contains the numbers 2, 3, and 4. In this case, we can see that the number 2 and 3 appear in both sets. Therefore, Set A and Set B have a connected relation.

A connected relation can be important in many different areas of math, such as algebra, geometry, and statistics. It allows us to understand how different sets of objects are related to each other, or how they can be transformed by a function or equation.

So, the bottom line is that a connected relation is when two sets have some kind of link or shared element between them, much like Legos that can be connected to build bigger and better creations!
