Okay kiddo, have you ever seen Mommy put on make-up? Well, contouring is a way to use make-up to make certain parts of our face look different.
You know how sometimes we put shadows on a drawing to make some parts look like they're sticking out and some parts look like they're going in? That's kind of what contouring is like - using make-up to create shadows on our face to make some parts look like they're sticking out and some parts look like they're going in.
We use a darker color of make-up to create the shadows on the parts of our face that we want to look smaller, and a lighter color of make-up to highlight the parts of our face that we want to look bigger. We can use contouring to make our cheeks look more defined, our nose look slimmer, and even to make our forehead look smaller.
It's kind of like playing with colors to make a painting, but instead we're playing with make-up to make our face look different!
