Hey kiddo! Have you ever noticed that some things you see are really bright and some things are really dark? That's called contrast! Contrast is the difference between how light or dark something is.
Imagine you're coloring with your crayons. You have a black crayon and a white crayon. If you color a square all black, it would be really dark. But if you color another square all white, it would be really bright. Now if you put those two squares next to each other, you would see a big difference in brightness. That's called contrast!
Contrast is important for our eyes to see things clearly. When there's good contrast, our eyes can easily tell the difference between things. For example, if you're reading a book with black letters on a white page, there's good contrast and it's easy to see the words. But if the letters were a light grey color and the background was a slightly darker grey color, it would be harder to read because there wouldn't be enough contrast.
So remember, contrast is like the difference between bright and dark. If things have good contrast, it's easier for our eyes to see them!
