Copyright on typefaces

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen different fonts on your computer or in a book? Those different styles of letters are called typefaces. The person who made that typeface put a lot of hard work and creativity into it, just like when you draw a picture or make a craft.

Now, just like you wouldn't want someone else to take credit for your artwork, the person who made the typeface wants to be recognized as the creator too. So, they can get something called a copyright.

A copyright means that no one else can use or copy the typeface without permission from the person who made it. They can also charge money if someone else wants to use their typeface.

So, if you want to use a certain typeface for a project, it's important to make sure you have permission or have paid for the right to use it. Otherwise, you might get in trouble for using someone else's hard work without their permission.
