ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Copyright reform movement

Okay, so imagine you have a toy that you really love and you made up a game to play with it. You want to make sure no one takes your toy or plays your game without asking you first, right?

Well, grown-ups have something called "intellectual property" which is like a toy or a game they made up with their brains. They want to make sure that no one takes their ideas without asking or giving them credit. This is called "copyright."

Sometimes people might use someone else's ideas or creations without asking or giving credit, and that's not very nice. So a lot of people are working really hard to change the rules about copyright so that everyone's ideas are protected and respected. They call this the "copyright reform movement."

It's kind of like making sure everyone plays fair and shares their toys nicely, but with grown-up ideas and creations instead of toys.
