Corn crib

A corn crib is a special building where people keep corn after they harvest it from the fields, kind of like a bedroom for corn! Inside the corn crib, there are usually big compartments or bins with slatted walls to let air flow through. This is important because it helps keep the corn dry and prevents it from getting moldy.

People have been using corn cribs for a long, long time - even before there were big machines to help with farming. In the old days, farmers would build the corn crib out of wooden poles and grasses or leaves. Nowadays, corn cribs are built with stronger materials like metal or concrete so they can last for a very long time.

When it's time to use the corn, the farmer can take it out of the crib, grind it up, and then turn it into lots of yummy things like cornbread, tortillas, and cereal!
