Counterforce

Counterforce is a military strategy. It means that if one country is attacking another country, the attacked country will use its military to try and stop them. This can include things like sending planes or ships to fight against the attacking forces, or trying to shoot down any missiles or bombs the other country sends. In some cases, it may even involve using nuclear weapons. Counterforce is a way of defending yourself against attacks and trying to stop the other country from getting what they want.
