ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Criminal negligence

Criminal negligence is when someone does something that is dangerous or careless, and it causes harm to another person. It's like when you're playing with your toys and you accidentally knock over a vase, but instead of a vase, it could be something really important, like a person's life.

For example, let's say you were playing hide-and-seek with your friends, and you decided to hide in a really dangerous place, like inside a washing machine. If someone turns it on and you get hurt, that person might be criminally negligent because they should have known that it was dangerous to put someone inside a washing machine.

In the legal world, when someone is criminally negligent, it means they made a really bad decision that put someone else in danger, and they could face punishment for it. This punishment could be anything from taking responsibility for the harm they caused, like paying for someone's medical bills, to going to jail for a long time depending on how serious the harm was.

So, it's important to always be careful and think about the possible consequences of our actions, especially when other people are involved.
