Crisis intervention

Crisis intervention is like how you have a plan in case there's an emergency, and you need to be quick to help someone who's hurt or scared. It's something that really smart people have figured out to help someone feel better when they're going through a really hard time.

Just like when you fall down and scrape your knee, there are people who know how to help you feel better. But sometimes things happen that aren't just physical -- like you might be feeling really sad or scared, or something big might have happened in your family or community. That's where crisis intervention comes in.

A person who knows how to do crisis intervention is called a counselor or a therapist. They are like really special helpers who are trained to talk to you about what's happening and help you figure out what you need to feel better.

They might do things like:

- Listen to you when you're upset or scared
- Help you understand your feelings and what's happening
- Teach you how to calm down when you're feeling overwhelmed
- Help you come up with a plan for what to do next
- Connect you with other people who can help you

The goal of crisis intervention is to make sure that you are safe and taken care of, and to help you feel better as soon as possible. It's like having a superhero who can swoop in and help you when things feel really out of control.
