Cross-stitch

Cross-stitch is a type of sewing that uses little x-shaped stitches to make a picture or pattern on a piece of fabric.

To start, you need some special fabric called aida cloth that has tiny little squares to help you make your x-shaped stitches even. Then you pick out some floss, which is like string, in different colors to use for your stitches.

Next, you have to make a plan for your project. You can find patterns online or in a book or magazine. These patterns show you where to put your stitches to make a picture.

Once you have your pattern, you use a special needle that is bigger than a regular sewing needle and has a little hole in the tip. You thread your floss through the hole in the needle and then start making your x-shaped stitches one at a time.

It can take a while to finish, but when you are done, you have a beautiful picture made entirely out of little stitches! People use cross-stitch to make all sorts of things like wall hangings, pillows, and even clothes. It's a fun and creative way to make something beautiful out of just fabric and thread.
