Cruise ship pollution

Hi there! Do you know what a cruise ship is? It's like a big boat that lots of people go on for a vacation.

But have you ever thought about what happens to all the stuff the cruise ship uses, like the food and drinks, when it's done with them? Well, sometimes those things can end up in the ocean, and that's not good for the fish and other sea creatures.

But that's not the only problem. Cruise ships also make a lot of pollution. Pollution is something that can be harmful or dangerous to living things, like you and me.

Cruise ships have big engines that make a lot of smoke, and that smoke has things in it that can hurt the air, like carbon dioxide and sulfur. That's kind of like when you breathe out air, but some people cough or sneeze, and little pieces fly out with the air. It's not good to breathe that in!

The engines on cruise ships also use something called bunker fuel. Bunker fuel is a kind of oil that's very dirty and thick, and it makes a lot of pollution when it burns. Kind of like when you cook with oil, and some gets too hot and starts smoking.

All that pollution can make the air hard to breathe, and it can also hurt the fish and other animals in the ocean. So it's important for people who run cruise ships to try to make less pollution. They can do things like using cleaner fuels, or making the engines work better so they don't make as much smoke.

So, that's why it's important to be careful about cruise ship pollution. We want to make sure the air and the ocean stay healthy for everyone, including you and me!
