ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cubic metre per second

A cubic metre per second is a way to measure how much water is flowing through a river or a pipe. Imagine you have a big bathtub that can hold a lot of water. Now imagine you have a magic power that can fill up that bathtub in just one second. That's how much water a cubic metre is.

So when we say "cubic metre per second," we mean the amount of water that can flow through that river or pipe in one second. It's like how much water can come out of a hose when you turn it on full blast.

It's really important to measure how much water is flowing because it helps us understand how much water we have and how we can use it. We can also use this measurement to make sure that we're not using too much water and that the environment is healthy for animals that live in or near the river.
