Cuisine of the Maritime Provinces (Canada)

So, you know how Canada has a really big coastline, right? Well, those parts of Canada that are next to the sea are called maritime provinces. There are three of them: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Now, because these provinces are so close to the sea, their cuisine is very different from the rest of Canada. You see, the people who live in these provinces have access to some of the freshest seafood you can find anywhere in the world. That means they eat a lot of fish, lobster, scallops, and other tasty sea creatures.

One of the most popular dishes in the maritime provinces is called lobster rolls. A lobster roll is a sandwich that's made with a special type of bread that's toasted and then stuffed with fresh lobster meat. People often add a bit of mayonnaise to their lobster roll to make it even tastier.

Another popular dish from the maritime provinces is called fish and chips. This is basically deep-fried fish and fries that are usually served with vinegar and tartar sauce. People love to eat fish and chips while sitting by the sea, watching the waves crash against the shore.

There are also a lot of delicious desserts that come from the maritime provinces. One of the most famous is called blueberry grunt. Blueberry grunt is a type of dessert that's made with fresh blueberries and a dough that's boiled in a sweet sauce until it's nice and fluffy.

So, there you have it! The cuisine of the maritime provinces is all about fresh seafood, delicious sandwiches, and tasty desserts. Yum!
