ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cultural Muslims

Okay, kiddo, let me explain to you what "cultural Muslims" mean like you're five!

So, in many parts of the world, people follow a religion called Islam. These people are called Muslims, and they believe in Allah (which means God in Arabic), and they follow holy book called the Quran, and they pray five times a day.

However, some people who were born into Muslim families don't believe in Allah or follow the Quran, but they still like to identify themselves as Muslims, and they celebrate traditional Muslim holidays like Eid and Ramadan. These people are called "Cultural Muslims".

It's like when you celebrate Christmas with your family, but you don't really believe in Jesus or the Bible, you just like the fun stuff, like decorating the Christmas Tree, giving and receiving gifts, and spending time with family and friends. That's what Cultural Muslims do, they like to celebrate the cultural traditions and customs of being a Muslim without necessarily believing in Allah, Quran or the religious practices.

So, in summary, a Cultural Muslim is someone who may have been raised in a Muslim family, but they don't actively practice or follow Islam religiously, but they still identify with the Muslim culture and traditions.
