ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Currency crisis

A currency crisis is when a country's money (currency) suddenly becomes very weak or loses its value very quickly. This happens because there is either too much of the country's currency, or people don't have enough faith in the currency. When this happens, it usually makes it harder and more expensive for people to buy things from other countries, because they have to use more of their own currency to buy the same amount of another currency.
