Cut-out (recording industry)

"Cut-out" in the music industry means that a company has most likely bought a bunch of old albums and are now selling them at a really low price. Think of it like buying toys from a garage sale - they may be used, but they're still fun to play with and you get them for a really good deal! The reason why these albums are so cheap is because the company that originally made them has stopped selling them, so they sell them to other companies at a discounted price. These new companies then sell them as cut-outs to music stores. So if you see a really cheap album at a music store, it might be a cut-out!
