Dak bungalow

Okay, kiddo, imagine you're on a long journey and you need a place to rest and sleep for the night. A dak bungalow is a special kind of house that was used a long time ago in India for people like travelers, officials, and soldiers when they needed a place to stay during their journeys.

These bungalows were usually made of stone or brick, with thick walls and a big veranda or porch in front. Inside, there were big rooms with high ceilings and sometimes even beds with mosquito nets to keep the bugs away. Sometimes, there was even a kitchen and a dining area where people could eat and cook their own food.

The word "dak" means post or mail, which is where the word "dak bungalow" comes from. These houses were often located near post offices, where people would come to send and receive letters and other important mail.

Nowadays, people don't use dak bungalows as much anymore because there are other ways to travel and stay overnight, like hotels and motels. But, some of these bungalows still exist and can be a fun and interesting place to visit if you're ever in India.
