Dark skin is the color of our skin that makes some people look different from other people. Everyone has a different color of skin, and it's usually based on where in the world their ancestors come from. People with dark skin usually come from places that are near the equator (closer to the sun). Darker skin has more pigment (color) in it than lighter skin, and it gives some protection against the sun's rays. It also helps regulate body temperature and protects against disease. People with dark skin are just as special and unique as people with light skin.
