ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Data mart

Imagine you're playing with a big box of toys. But, there are so many toys in the box that it's hard to find the one you want to play with. So, your parents decide to take some of the toys out of the box and put them in a smaller box just for you.

This smaller box is like a data mart. It's a smaller version of the big box, but only has the toys you want to play with.

In the same way, a data mart is a smaller version of a big database that contains only specific data that we want to analyze. For example, if we have a big database about a store that sells different products, we can create a data mart that contains only the sales data for a specific product or a specific location.

By having a smaller database that is focused on specific data, it is easier and faster to analyze the information and make decisions based on that information. Just like it's easier to find the toy you want to play with in a smaller box!
