ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Dead end (street)

A dead end street is like a cul-de-sac, which means that there is an end in the road and you cannot continue driving. It also means that there's no place to turn around and go back the same way you came from. It is called a "dead end" because it is the end of the road and there is no way to move forward without turning around.

Think of it like a maze where you can only go in one direction and when you reach the end, you have to turn back or find a different path. Just like in a game of "hide and seek," once you reach the dead end, there is no way to move forward, and you have to go back the way you came or find another way to get where you want to go. Dead end streets are often used in residential areas to limit traffic flow and make the neighborhood safer for pedestrians and children.
